The Mebane City Council unanimously awarded a $297,800 contract to Stonewall Construction Services LLC to build a second basketball court at the Mebane Arts Center, Mayor Hooks said.
Hooks said the court at 633 Corregidor Street was included in the city’s FY26 budget to respond to growing demand for outdoor recreation. "I really want to thank and acknowledge Impact Alamance for their donation of $40,000 for this project," Hooks said.
City staff told the council that eight bids were received for the work; Stonewall Construction Services LLC submitted the successful bid. The selected location at the Mebane Arts Center will allow lighting to extend evening play hours and coordinate with other activities at the complex.
The council did not provide a construction start date in the update. City staff will oversee contract administration and scheduling once preconstruction steps are complete.
