Board approves handbooks, fee schedule and calamity-day plan; introduces new high-school science teacher

Trustees approved a set of routine items required for the upcoming school year: student handbooks and code of conduct, an administrative handbook update, the 2026 — student fee schedule and the district's Calamity Day remote learning plan.
Dr. Moore said the donations list reset to zero for the month, leaving the monthly donation total at $6,000. "It is pretty amazing every month to see the donations that roll into our district, and, we appreciate both of these," he said.
On the remote learning plan, Dr. Moore told trustees state law requires annual board approval for using online learning days as school days; approval would permit the district to count up to three remote-learning days if needed.
The HR update noted no outstanding teaching hires except possibly a bus driver and included a late revision moving Mary Burnside to a higher salary step after she provided updated credentials. The board welcomed Darren Brown, who said he had taught chemistry and physics for 35 years and was "excited to teach children in my hometown."
