Troy board hears treasurer: fiscal year ended with higher spending and county rollback reduced revenue by roughly $453,000

At its meeting, the Troy City School District Board of Education heard from Mr. Price, who said the district ended fiscal year 2026 having spent slightly more than it took in and that county-level changes to homestead and rollback programs reduced district revenues.
"We ended the fiscal year '26, spending slightly more than what we took in to the tune of about 400 and I believe it was $88,000," Mr. Price said, and added that county changes in the middle of the fiscal year "amounted that effect to us amounted to $453,000." He said the district has not yet received full figures from the county auditor on the second-half effect.
Board members pressed for more information about the county's decisions and their local impact. Mr. Fox said he appreciated taxpayers saving money but questioned why the county did not provide details on how the changes would affect local districts.
The board did not vote on new revenue measures at the meeting; Mr. Price said the district will continue to seek updated numbers from the county auditor and report back to the board.
