Troy board honors Sarah Walters as District 3 nominee for Ohio Teacher of the Year

The Troy City School District Board of Education on Wednesday recognized Sarah Walters as the district's nominee for the State Board of Education's District 3 Teacher of the Year.
"Sarah is a literacy support specialist that works with our curriculum department, which means that she works with all of our teachers across our buildings to particularly improve literacy for our kids," Mr. Piper said, introducing Walters and praising her work districtwide. "She's been working very hard with our teachers and our kids."
Board members said the nomination reflects districtwide literacy gains tied to Walters's work. The board noted the state selection process narrows 11 regional nominees to four finalists, and one of those finalists becomes Ohio's State Teacher of the Year.
The board did not take any formal action beyond the recognition. Chair and other members offered congratulations and wished Walters success as the statewide selection continues.
