The City Council on June 9 approved an amendment to a mediated settlement agreement with JC Rental and Investments that changes the payment schedule and grants additional time to obtain a property survey in an existing code-enforcement matter.
City Attorney John Turner explained the amendment would bifurcate the total fines into a $150,000 deposit to be placed in the defendant’s attorney trust account on June 22 and the remaining $125,000 on Aug. 6, for a total of $275,000. The amendment also extends the time for the owner to obtain a property survey, citing local surveyor availability.
Turner said staff is agreeable to the amendment and recommended council approval. Councilmember Linda Moore moved to approve the amended mediated settlement agreement; Vice Mayor Taylor Dingle seconded and the motion passed on a 4-0 roll call.
No public comment was offered on the item at the meeting. Turner said staff will consult with outside counsel as needed for implementation steps tied to the amendment.
