Upshur County approves 90-day Prizym pilot and new language service for E-911

The Upshur County Commission on July 9 approved two actions intended to modernize E-911 operations: a no-cost 90-day pilot of the Prizym platform and a monthly language-service agreement with CONVEY911, LLC.
County Administrator Tabatha R. Perry said Director Doyle Cutright, II proposed the Prizym trial to evaluate AI-powered communications, real-time transcription, multilingual support and workflow automation. The commission authorized a three-month pilot at no cost; Tabatha Perry and Doyle Cutright will review results at about 60 days and report back to the commission.
The commission also approved a Language Service Agreement with CONVEY911, LLC to provide transcription, translation and on-demand human interpreter access for Upshur County’s E-911 Communications Center. The contract cost is $150 per month ($1,800 annually). Ms. Perry said the change responds to poor efficiency and quality from the county’s existing vendor, which required placing callers on hold to contact interpreters.
Both actions were approved on motions by Samuel R. Nolte, seconded by Douglas K. Bush, and carried unanimously. The E-911 director and county administrators will report the pilot outcomes to the commission during the trial period.
