Special Magistrate Amity Barnard presided over a July 14 code-enforcement hearing for the Town of Loxahatchee Groves, granting continuances in several cases, removing one matter from the agenda as complied and setting new compliance and fine-assessment dates.
Barnard opened the hearing at 9 a.m. and swore in town staff. The town announced that case CE2606136 (Stevens and Manos), at 4332 145th Avenue (PCN 41414308000005200), had been taken off the agenda because the violation had been complied with and would not proceed that morning.
John Suarez, the town's code compliance officer, presented case CE2605129 for Rena Dorril LLC (3330 C Road, PCN 41414317O1/3230030) and said an order granting continuance had been mailed and posted. The town requested a continuance to allow time for service; Barnard granted the request and reset the violation hearing for Aug. 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
Suarez also presented case CE26-57 involving Aida Hernandez (15347 Okeechobee Boulevard, PCN 41414317012130080). Suarez said he had been in contact with the owner's grandson and that the family had experienced illnesses and ownership-transfer issues. The town asked that the compliance deadline be aligned with a companion case so the family could address both parcels at once. Barnard granted the requested continuance, set a new compliance date of Sept. 21, 2026, and scheduled a fine-assessment hearing for Oct. 13, 2026. The magistrate maintained the previously ordered fine of $250 per day for each day the violation continues after the new compliance date and reserved assessment of administrative costs for the October hearing. As Barnard stated on the record, "Given the testimony of the code enforcement officer, I will grant the requested continuance, establish a new compliance date of 09/21/2026, a new fine assessment hearing date of 10/13/2026, and maintain the $250 per day fine amount." When Case CE26-3 for S F E F Bridal at 13771 Okeechobee Boulevard was called, respondent counsel Katie Edwards Walpole joined remotely and stipulated to service for the morning's hearing. Counsel and the town agreed to a mutual continuance; Barnard reset that violation hearing for July 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
The town entered its composite case file as Exhibit 1 without objection in the matters where the respondent was not present. The hearing concluded and Barnard adjourned at 9:14 a.m.
The hearing record shows continuances for multiple matters and one case removed from the agenda due to reported compliance; several calendar dates and the continued-fine amount were set. The next scheduled hearings are July 22, 2026 (CE26-3), Aug. 26, 2026 (CE2605129), and Oct. 13, 2026 (fine-assessment hearing for CE26-57).
