SPRING GREEN, Wis. — The Spring Green Ordinance Committee met June 2, 2026, at the Spring Green Village Office to review proposed amendments to Ordinance 180, which covers bicycles and play vehicles in the village. The meeting ran from about 6:33 p.m. to 8:22 p.m.
Committee members reached consensus to base local changes on a state statute while listing village-specific exceptions for unique situations. Committee participant Eugene Schulz suggested the committee consider separate rules for adults and for children’s bicycles and play vehicles; the committee discussed possible definitions and other additions to the ordinance’s language. Committee member Jean-Claude Bédard said he would incorporate the changes discussed and present a draft for review at a future meeting. No formal motion or vote was taken on amendments to Ordinance 180 at this meeting.
Earlier on the agenda the committee handled routine business. Jean-Claude Bédard moved to approve the minutes of the Aug. 22, 2018 Ordinance Committee meeting; David Saperstein seconded and the motion passed with all in favor. David Saperstein moved to approve the meeting agenda as presented; Bédard seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Wendy Crary was appointed minute taker.
There was no general public comment recorded. Ed and Hilary Lilla arrived late, at about 8:20 p.m., and the meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m. after a motion by Saperstein, seconded by Bédard.
The committee did not set a date for further consideration of Ordinance 180 during the meeting. Members directed Bédard to prepare a draft of the proposed amendments incorporating the agreed approach for review at a future session.
