Town manager updates Select Board on raccoon removal, street survey, DES permits and farmers market planning

Town Manager Jessica Cyr provided a series of routine operations updates at the Select Board meeting on Jan. 5. She said two raccoons had been in Town Hall; Chief Woodworth coordinated with NH Fish & Game, which trapped one animal and the other is believed to have left the building.
Cyr said a survey for Summer Street is complete and the town will meet monthly with engineering firm Weston & Sampson with meeting frequency increasing as the project moves toward construction. She reported the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services final report for the underground storage tank removed from 10 Mechanic Street shows the town has met all requirements and no further action is necessary.
On storm recovery, Cyr said inquiries with the state's Homeland Security and Emergency Management office (HSEM) indicate the town's FEMA storm project has moved slowly after a shutdown and staff absences; funds will likely be disbursed by year incurred, with 2024 funds expected before 2025 funds. Cyr also said she contacted the Lancaster Farmers Market about planning for the town's 250th birthday celebration and will meet with market organizers including Matt Treamer to discuss park use.
