The Town of Berwick Planning Board on July 6 reviewed a sketch plan for the Meggins Way extension subdivision proposing eight house lots and one area of open space.
A presenter described the layout as 8 lots plus an additional open-space parcel and noted the plan intends to avoid wetland impacts by leaving the primary wetland area as open space. The presenter also said the group planned to flag a proposed sidewalk centerline and requested the board schedule a sidewalk site walk; the board set the site walk for Aug. 6 at 4:30 p.m.
Board members asked about wetlands, access from Cemetery Road, ownership and conveyance of small parcels (the presenter said the necessary conveyance had occurred and the change was reflected on the plans), and whether the existing colonial house near the proposed lots would remain. The presenter and an engineer indicated the fire department might use the existing house for training when it becomes vacant.
The board explained that the sketch-plan step is informational and that abutter notices will be sent before subsequent hearings. The board did not take a formal vote on the sketch plan itself; the scheduled site walk is a procedural next step.
