Public commenter urges Harpers Ferry to post minutes and respect meeting-notice rules

At the start of the July 13 meeting, Jacob White, speaking on behalf of the Jefferson County Foundation, urged the council to post meeting minutes and agendas online and to follow open-meetings notice requirements.
White said minutes for the council and other town bodies have not been updated on the town website since February and that many residents—especially those who work daytime schedules—cannot easily access paper copies at town hall. He said he received the agenda for the meeting the previous evening at 7 p.m., and cited a public-ethics commission notice that regular meetings require three business days’ notice.
White asked the council to timely post minutes and agendas online and to consider additional public-access steps. Councilors acknowledged the concern and noted that some minutes were not yet available but expected to have them for the next meeting.
No formal council action was recorded at the meeting to change posting practices; staff and council said they would follow up on the missing minutes.
