Members were briefed on trail and event updates. Jason announced that Graveyard Trail is reopened and said he will offer community hikes this fall; he also described a Wilderness Appreciation Day on Oct. 18 at the Moore Center Nature Center with displays and safety talks and said proceeds from participating stores would support wilderness maintenance.
The committee discussed renaming the native-plant sale to "Landcare Festival" with the subhead "celebrating Montreat's native flora and fauna," and agreed the April 11 date should include Arbor Day activities that meet Tree City requirements. "It's a Landcare Festival," a member said during the discussion, emphasizing outreach and education elements tied to tree planting and community engagement.
Members agreed to get event details onto Montreelandcare.org and to include the workshop and hike schedules in community announcements. Because no formal meeting was opened, decisions were not voted on but were recorded for follow-up at a future meeting when a quorum is present.
