At its Oct. 16, 2024, meeting in DeKalb, the Kemper County Utility District board approved the meeting agenda and the Sept. 18, 2024 minutes and authorized payment of two claims totaling $1,312.36, Chairman Susan Morgan said.
The action came after a routine roll call that showed Commissioners Susan Morgan, Tony Luke, Bobby McDade, Bill Wilkerson and Dr. Scott Alsobrooks present. Commissioner Tony Luke moved to approve the agenda; Commissioner Bobby McDade seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The same five commissioners voted unanimously to approve the Sept. 18 minutes after a motion from Dr. Scott Alsobrooks and a second from Commissioner Luke.
The board then heard the financial report: the district's checking account balance was listed as $20,419.38. The Claims Docket contained two items: $1,080.20 for legal services to Glover, Young, Hammack, Walton & Simmons and $232.16 for administrative services by Empirical Energy. Commissioner Bill Wilkerson moved to pay the two claims; Commissioner Tony Luke seconded. The motion passed by unanimous vote (Morgan, Luke, McDade, Wilkerson, Alsobrooks), and the board resolved to pay the vendors as listed.
The meeting record shows routine unanimous approval on procedural items and the claims docket; no dissenting votes were recorded. The minutes state they were approved by the board on Nov. 20, 2024, and bear signatures from Chairman Susan Morgan and Secretary Bill Wilkerson.
The board adjourned with no further action taken.
