Special meeting called for Aug. 14 adjourned for lack of quorum; session rescheduled for Oct. 9

A special meeting called to order for Wednesday, Aug. 14 was adjourned after organizers determined there was not a quorum, preventing any formal business or public participation from taking place. The presiding officer announced the meeting could not proceed and apologized to attendees for the inconvenience.

A staff member told the audience that, because a quorum was not present, "we cannot have a meeting, which means we cannot continue ordering with public participation," and said the same items would be taken up at a rescheduled meeting on October 9 at the same time and location. During roll call, a speaker read aloud attendees listed on the record, including Walter Bone, Kathleen Kaufman, Stephanie Reese, Angela Baratta Herman and Terry Bledsoe.

The adjournment means the agenda items slated for Aug. 14 — including the item that drew public attention at the meeting — will be postponed to the October 9 session. Staff advised attendees to return on Oct. 9 if they wish to present or comment; they also suggested contacting the building department with questions.

The meeting was formally adjourned after the announcement that business could not proceed for lack of quorum.
