Staff member hails PATA students' six Brentwood utility box murals, launches augmented reality experience

At a reception in Brentwood, a staff member recognized PATA students for completing six new utility box murals and announced an augmented-reality experience that allows viewers to inspect each artwork from any location.

The staff member said the ribbon cutting marked the 2026 Utility Box Mural Project and celebrated students, families, instructors, city staff and community members who attended. "The ribbon cutting recognized PATA students whose artwork has transformed everyday utility boxes into colorful public art pieces for the Brentwood community to enjoy," the staff member said.

The official emphasized the project was a chance to showcase students' creativity and hard work. "Each student was celebrated for their creativity, hard work, and the unique mark they have left on the city," the staff member said, adding that "for the first time ever, these utility box murals can be experienced in a whole new way." The staff member described the new augmented-reality (AR) feature: "You can walk around it, see the details from every angle, and experience the artwork up close from wherever you are."

The staff member thanked the students and noted a continued partnership with Liberty High School in producing the murals. Attendees were directed to the City of Brentwood's public art webpage to explore the murals and try the AR experience.
