Council approves Perks Pub conditional use for on‑site alcohol and recommends liquor license transfer to MLCC

The Rochester Hills City Council unanimously approved a conditional use allowing Perks Pub, a proposed restaurant at 3204 Walton Boulevard in the University Square Shopping Center, to sell alcoholic beverages for on‑site consumption ancillary to a restaurant use.
Planning staff (Mr. McLeod) said the Planning Commission reviewed the application in June and recommended approval by a 7‑0 vote. The applicant expects 56 seats, no outdoor seating, hours of operation of 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 11 a.m.–midnight Friday–Saturday, and a roughly 1,900‑square‑foot tenant space formerly occupied by a burger restaurant. The applicant and the property owner both spoke in support; the council asked standard follow‑up questions about building and fire code and liquor licensing requirements.
Separately, the council recommended that the Michigan Liquor Control Commission approve Perks Pub LLC's application to transfer a Class C liquor license to the Walton Boulevard location. The city's Liquor License Technical Review Committee had unanimously recommended approval of the transfer.
President Carlock read the resolutions and council approved both items by voice vote. The applicant indicated an anticipated opening and ribbon cutting in late September, subject to permits and inspections.
