El Segundo Unified board introduces chief business official, student‑support director and Richmond Street principal

At its July 14 meeting, the El Segundo Unified School District board introduced three new district leaders and heard brief remarks from each.
Miss Veal formally welcomed Dr. Melissa Gooden as the district’s new chief business official. Dr. Gooden said she is honored to serve and called her return to El Segundo “a little like coming home,” noting prior roles in the district and a commitment to stewarding resources so “students are at the core.”
Miss Veal also introduced Rose Ahrens as executive director of student support services. Ahrens described a servant‑leadership approach and said she aims to build upon existing programs to expand supports for students, families and staff.
The board introduced Sean Branlin as the new principal of Richmond Street School. Branlin, promoted from assistant principal, thanked the board and outgoing principal Carrie for mentorship and emphasized the importance of relationships with students, staff and families.
President Miller Zarnicki and other trustees welcomed the leaders, praised the district’s internal promotions and noted photo opportunities and community engagement during the summer. No formal board action beyond the introductions was required.
