Kittery Climate Action Committee reviews CAP cohort findings, sets comment deadline and schedules resilience program

The Kittery Climate Action Committee met May 7, 2026, in a hybrid session to hear a status update on regional climate planning and set next steps for local resilience work.
Jennifer Brousseau and Annika Doeppes, representing UNE, presented findings from the Southern Maine CAP Cohort and reviewed each participating town’s progress, recommending towns revisit and update the cohort’s findings. Committee members discussed follow-up work to ensure the cohort’s recommendations reflect current local activities.
Members discussed moving ahead with Phase 1 of a Wildfire Protection Plan, described in the minutes as an inventory to be completed with regional support from SMDC. Committee members asked that comments on the inventory plan and on an update to the Community Resilience Partnership be submitted to Max by May 15, a deadline recorded in the minutes.
The minutes also record that the Climate Resilient Kittery Program is scheduled for June 9 at 5:00 p.m. at KCC; Melanie Nash was listed in the agenda in connection with that item. Committee status notes show the Coastal Hazard Overlay remains on temporary hold and that the town greenhouse-gas inventory is ongoing.
