Elizabeth Daley, who administers the county’s Community Development Block Grant–Coronavirus program through Central Alabama Regional Planning, told the commission that Montgomery County received $300,000 in 2020 in CDBG–CV funds. Daley said $275,000 supported Mercy House’s acquisition of a food truck and the Mana House commercial kitchen on South Court Street, and $25,000 paid for project administration.
Daley said the food truck and kitchen have enabled meal deliveries to roughly 400 low-to-moderate-income residents and individuals experiencing homelessness in the county’s unincorporated areas, and that Mercy House plans to continue deliveries. She said the Mana House is equipped with a walk-in cooler/freezer, oven, steamer and exhaust hoods and that a ribbon-cutting will be scheduled.
Commissioners thanked Daley and Mercy House for completing the project; the public hearing was closed after the presentation and no additional county action was required at the meeting.
