Dwayne Rembert, founder of Flatline Movement, asked the Montgomery County Commission for roughly $20,000 to convert a donated, older church building from a fuse system to a breaker box so the facility can reliably power air conditioning and kitchen equipment used for feeding programs and community services. Rembert said the hub serves low-income neighborhoods near Chisholm, supports weekly feeding programs and partners with Montgomery Law Volunteer Program, which has used the building at no cost for five years.
Rembert told commissioners he had at least three electrical estimates and that the work would cost about $20,000–$22,000. He said the building is 22,000 square feet and the existing fuse system cannot support donated appliances, forcing organizers to pause a summer camp that serves about 20 local youth.
Chairman Singleton thanked Rembert for his work and told him, "I'll help you. It'll be on the next meeting," offering to place the request on a future agenda. Commissioner Costanza and other commissioners said they would follow up: one commissioner offered to connect Rembert with a contractor who does mission work, and another suggested consultation with county staff and staffers Connie and Doug to explore options.
The commission did not vote on funding at the meeting. Commissioners urged Rembert to provide quotes and paperwork so the request could be reviewed administratively and placed on the next agenda for formal consideration.
