Franklin County approves $51,821 vehicle purchase and renews several contracts

The Franklin County commission approved several routine items and one procurement motion at the meeting.
After reviewing bids for replacement pickups, commissioners voted to buy a vehicle from Smith's Chevrolet for $51,821.20 and authorized staff (Lance) to complete the purchase. "I make a motion that we... go with this price from Smith's Chevrolet, $51,821.20, and allow Lance to make that purchase," a commissioner said before the motion passed by voice vote.
On contracts and services, the board accepted a pair of annual agreements with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections that fund community-based alternative services and substance-use disorder services for juvenile probation. The board also accepted an engagement letter with auditors Jones Simpkins, renewed the annual Samsara vehicle-tracking contract for fleet management, and approved a four-county mutual aid agreement for emergency response assistance.
Commissioners also approved adding an Intellipay payment option through Gold Cross (ambulance billing vendor) to allow patients to make credit-card payments on balances; staff said this should have minimal direct county cost and will help the ambulance association collect for transports. Staff warned that a regional facility has pulled back unsecured behavioral-health transport services, which may increase secured transport calls handled by local ambulances by an estimated "up to 20%" and thus increase billing activity.
