Councilmember Cindy Fithian moved, and Councilmember Eliot Perkins seconded, approval of resolution‑2026‑08 to name the 19th‑century dike in the Occoquan River "Stepping Stones Isle" for a one‑year period beginning July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2027; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote after Councilmember Perkins withdrew an earlier alternate suggestion.
The council also voted unanimously to designate the park at 172 Mill Street as "The Mural Garden," effective immediately, authorizing staff to install signs and update Town maps and informational materials.
Both namings were approved by voice vote; the resolutions and implementation tasks were assigned to Town staff for follow-through.
