Millston board to consider youth tournaments on town ball field; approves routine minutes and reports

The Town of Millston board met on Feb. 11, 2026, at the Community Center and approved routine meeting business while agreeing to explore a community request to use the town ball field for youth play. The board approved minutes from the Jan. 14, 2026 meeting on a motion by Supervisor George Riedel and a second by Supervisor Jamie Goodbear; the motion was recorded as carried. The clerk reported voucher and check numbers 18545 through 18566, plus nine electronic funds transfers, totaling $42,226.05; that report was accepted on a motion by Riedel and a second by Goodbear. Clerk Dawn Wojtyla also reported a checking account balance of $433,953.67 as of Jan. 31, 2026; the treasurer's report was likewise accepted on the same motion pattern.
During the public-comment portion of the meeting the board welcomed back Treasurer Sue Marcou after a two-month absence. Michael Youngthunder, identified as affiliated with the Black River Youth Softball and Baseball Association (BRYSBA), asked the board to consider using the Millston ball field for summer leagues and tournaments. Youngthunder said he has been speaking with the Park Commission about the plan; the board expressed no objection but asked staff to check legal details. The board added the item to the March agenda. Youngthunder noted the proposal could potentially replace the town’s men's Labor Day softball tournaments held for MDA with youth events, but any change was described as tentative.
Chairman Mike Yahn read the roads report submitted by David. Mail and vouchers were reviewed and signed. The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m. on a motion by Supervisor George Riedel and a second by Supervisor Jamie Goodbear. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
