Stamping Ground commission confirms assignments and appoints ABC administrators

The Stamping Ground City Commission on Jan. 7 approved its commissioners’ portfolios and confirmed appointments to oversee the city’s alcohol-beverage-control (ABC) duties.
Commissioners agreed on the following assignments: Ken Koger will oversee parks and public works; Jennifer Jones will oversee the police department; Mayor Bill Swartz will handle streets and finance administration; Cody Meadows will lead economic development; and Dale Perry will supervise the fire department. The commission discussed whether a volunteer fire captain may also serve as Fire Commissioner but recorded no formal policy change on that point. "Motion by Commissioner Perry, seconded by Commissioner Jones, to accept their Commission Assignments as volunteered" was recorded and the motion passed 5-0.
Mayor Bill Swartz appointed Kevin Kidwell as the Primary ABC Administrator and named Commissioner Jennifer Jones as Deputy ABC Administrator. The commission recorded a motion to confirm those appointments; the motion passed 5-0. The appointments give two local officials responsibility for administering ABC-related paperwork and oversight at the municipal level.
The commission also discussed procedural items including a proposed event calendar (Easter: April 19; Fourth of July parade: July 4; Buffalo Daze: Oct. 4; Halloween: Oct. 31 at 6 p.m.; Christmas Parade: Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.) and a suggested change to the regular meeting schedule (first meeting on the second Thursday and a second meeting on the fourth Tuesday). Commissioner Cody Meadows moved, with Commissioner Dale Perry seconding, to draft language to change the regular scheduled meeting dates; the minutes record the motion but do not record a vote on that draft.
