Shelton trustees approve downtown memorial baskets, new SVFD members and defer several items

At the Village of Shelton Board of Trustees meeting on April 10 the board approved several routine and community items.
The consent agenda passed and included: waiving the reading of, and approving, the Feb. 13, 2025 minutes; accepting the financial report; and approving Elijah Onate and Levi Bahe as new members of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department and Demarien Williams as a new cadet.
The board approved a proposal for large memorial flower containers downtown, a supervised agricultural experience project by Shelton High School student Gracie Willis; a representative answered questions and the student will be responsible for watering and maintenance. Zoning Officer Gillming reported he found no existing regulation governing placement of food trucks on residential lots and issued a temporary use permit for six months for one truck; he intends to bring the issue to the Planning Commission for formal consideration. Utility Superintendent Gillming said he and Chairman Roe had met a representative from Municipal Supply (Hastings) and the board voted to postpone any action on water-meter replacement until the May meeting while awaiting a quote.
Artena Thompson, Housing Director for Hall County and the Shelton Housing Authority, discussed the management agreement between Hall County and Shelton and asked the board to consider increasing the Shelton Housing Authority board from five to six commissioners and to limit the Resident Commissioner’s term to three years; no action was taken.
The board approved payment of claims and adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
