The Danville Community School Corporation board opened its July 13 meeting by recognizing student achievements and reading resolutions of congratulations into the minutes.
Dr. Schaeffer introduced Trevor Lynch as the district’s representative to the Illinois High School Association student advisory committee and then asked Colin Baumgartner to the front; staff and trustees noted Baumgartner won state championships in both the 100‑ and 200‑meter races. When asked how it felt, Baumgartner said, "I expected it the 2nd time," describing his confidence after the first finish.
The board also recognized a long list of Danville Community High School athletes who earned academic all‑state honors and multiple FFA teams that placed at state competitions (including senior and junior dairy judging teams, Discovery Food Science champions and a quiz‑bowl third place). Board president Mrs. Cherry read formal resolutions congratulating the students and coaches; members approved the resolutions unanimously.
The recognitions included teacher and sponsor acknowledgements and invitations for students and coaches to be photographed with the board. The board recessed briefly after the commendations before moving to its construction update.
