The Valparaiso Board of Trustees on Sept. 10 approved several new-business items including liquor-license renewals, building permits and permission for a food truck to begin operations.
Trustee Nikki Draper moved, and Trustee Turnwall seconded, a motion to renew liquor licenses for Harry’s Tavern, Val Tavern and NazDravi. The recorded vote was YEA: Pierce, Draper, Turnwall; ABSTAIN: Dan Homes. The motion carried.
The board then approved building permits for Benes and an addition to the Brenner carwash on a motion by Chairperson Homes, seconded by Trustee Pierce; the vote was recorded as unanimous among those present. Chonos on Wheels owners were present to introduce themselves and the board granted permission for the food truck to start operations immediately on a motion by Turnwall, seconded by Pierce (YEA: All).
Nick Sanders said he will gather pricing for infrastructure and zoning-map updates. Oak Street parking enforcement and signage concerns were discussed but tabled for next month. Homes and Sanders will attend an upcoming NRD mitigation-grant meeting.
