Broken Bow council approves payment and small credit adjustment for 2024 water-main project

On Feb. 10, 2026, the Broken Bow City Council approved payment and a final quantity adjustment for the 2024 Water Main Replacements Project. The council voted to authorize payment #1 of $413,785.17 to Myers Construction, Inc. for work performed from Oct. 1, 2025, through Jan. 15, 2026, and approved Change Order #4, a net credit of $5,005.80 that resets substantial completion to Feb. 12, 2026.
The payment and change order were presented as separate motions. Councilmember Russ Smith moved and Councilmember Travis Kleeb seconded the resolution authorizing the payment; the motion passed with Smith, Kleeb and Paul Holland voting aye and Joe Wamsley abstaining. Councilmember Travis Kleeb moved and Councilmember Paul Holland seconded approval of Change Order #4; the roll-call vote matched the payment resolution (Wamsley abstaining).
City Administrator David Schmidt described the project as running "very smooth," said the city undertook some of the work and supplied materials, and reported the total project cost will be $449,419.14—about $100,000 under the original budget. Schmidt said crews are currently connecting services and are roughly half finished on the north side, so minimal remaining expenses are expected.
The actions complete the contractor's first pay request and document a small net credit to final quantities; the council also signed the certificate of substantial completion as part of the payment authorization. No public comments were made on the item during the meeting.
The council did not set any additional funding authorizations at the meeting; future steps are limited to finishing connections and completing remaining north-side work under the revised completion date.
