Wilcox trustees approve claims and permits, review nuisance properties and RV rules

At its Aug. 12, 2025 meeting the Village of Wilcox Board of Trustees approved a slate of vendor and utility claims, granted two building permits and reviewed delinquent utility accounts and nuisance properties.
Trustee Norman moved, with Trustee Adam seconding, to approve all claims listed in the minutes; the motion carried with all trustees voting in favor. The minutes list a detailed set of claims presented for payment (vendors and amounts). Trustee Johnson moved to approve Building Permit #415 for A. Smith (metal building); Trustee Norman seconded and the permit was approved. Building Permit #416 for M. Latter (chain-link fence) was approved on a motion by Trustee Nash and a second from Trustee Adam.
The board reviewed nuisance properties and noted a letter was sent to the owner(s) of 305 and 309 E. Franklin St. directing cleanup and removal of two campers. The board also recorded that a court case regarding vicious dogs is scheduled for Aug. 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Board discussion reiterated Section 1011.11 of the Wilcox Comprehensive Plan, which prohibits use of recreational equipment, RVs and campers for living or housekeeping on residential lots or unapproved locations.
The board also discussed selling a lot at the Noxon Street property; the minutes state the board will not sell lots unless a definite plan to build is presented. Trustee B. Johnson informed the board that sites had been submitted for lead and copper testing in town, and the minutes note road work at the West Addition was completed.
With no further business, the meeting and the CDA Incentive Plan hearing were adjourned. Minutes were attested by Village Clerk Melinda Ferree and approved by Chairman Brad Gardels.
