The Village of Cortland board approved a $9,600 proposal from Pavers, Inc. to crack-seal several village streets, the board’s Feb. 17 special meeting minutes show. Board member German moved to approve the proposal; Board member Meints seconded the motion, which carried on a roll-call vote with German, C. Moormeier, Kohout, Meints and Burkey recorded as voting yes.
The action covered routine crack-sealing on multiple streets, and the minutes list the streets the board discussed for the work: Sheridan Street (to 9th Street), Apple Road (east and west side of Highway 77), Second Street, Fifth Street (Sheridan to Washington), Highland and Lincoln (north of Apple), Sherman (Apple to the south city limits), Vermont Street (5th to Apple), Fourth (Sherman to New Hampshire) and Third Street (Sherman to New Hampshire). The minutes state the work was to begin “next week.” The board characterized the work as general maintenance and recorded that it is not included in the village’s One and Six Year Plan.
Before approving the proposal, the board took a procedural motion to receive and place on file all notices and materials related to the meeting. That motion was made by Board member C. Moormeier and seconded by Burkey and carried on a roll-call vote (Yes: German, C. Moormeier, Kohout, Meints, Burkey).
Chairperson Kohout called the special meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.; the meeting minutes show the meeting adjourned at 6:23 p.m. The minutes list board members Kohout, German, C. Moormeier, Meints and Burkey as present along with Clerk D. Moormeier and Utility Superintendent Briggs. The adjournment roll call in the minutes, however, records a different set of affirmative names (Yes: German, Goforth, Kohout, Burkey); the minutes do not explain that discrepancy.
The minutes were signed by Donelle Moormeier, Clerk/Treasurer. The record does not specify the contract start date beyond “next week,” the source of funding, or whether the work requires state-level approvals.
