Board appoints Susan Stobie to fill vacant seat; elects Cooke president and Ellersick vice president

Attorney Marc Zitomer outlined the appointment process before the vote. Heather Ellersick moved to appoint Ms. Stobie; Maureen McGuire seconded the motion. The motion passed on roll call and President Marie S. Bilik presented a copy of the resolution to Ms. Stobie.
The board later held paper‑ballot elections for its officers. Ann Marie Cooke was elected president by a majority of the members present; Heather Ellersick was elected vice president. The board secretary collected and read the ballots aloud and motions to approve each election were carried by roll call.
The appointment followed a candidate interview process that began the same evening, during which candidates answered questions about priorities for the district, balancing educational goals with taxpayer burden, and the attributes they would bring to the board. The meeting record notes that a coin flip determined which candidate would be interviewed first.
The board is scheduled to meet next on July 15, 2026.
