North Logan council hears water-tank, Civic Center and events updates; forms advisory committees

City staff updated the North Logan City Council on several infrastructure and community projects during the June 17 meeting, including water capital improvements, Civic Center exterior and interior work, and plans for new advisory committees.
Jordan Oldham reported that crews have poured the new water tank roof and are removing scaffolding, and that installation of the fill line connecting Green Canyon to the tank has begun and will continue westward over the next several weeks. Staff said the sewer master plan is nearing completion and that recent surface-treatment projects have been completed on several city roads.
Alan Luce reviewed Civic Center exterior work—reusing topsoil from Elk Ridge improvements, installing bollards and pathway lighting, with concrete work near the former library scheduled next—and said interior remodeling at the library/community center is ongoing with completion and grand opening discussions anticipated later in the summer or early fall.
Council discussed assignments for newly formed strategic "Hedgehog" committees focused on recreation and community gatherings, public recreation center planning, economic development, and community development with a recreation emphasis. Staff clarified the committees would be advisory to the Mayor and could include staff and community participants.
Public safety and events items were also covered: Fire Chief Nate Thompson issued fireworks safety reminders, noted distribution of an interactive fireworks restriction map, and flagged the possibility of Level 1 fire restrictions; Sergeant Aaron Hodges summarized last week's call volume and said e-bike enforcement continues with roughly three to four related incidents or contacts per week.
