Stamping Ground commission approves routine motions, donates $500 to robotics club

Sarah Magard, speaking for the SGE Robotics Club, asked the commission for a donation to support the group. Commissioner Ken Koger moved and Commissioner Jennifer Jones seconded a motion to donate $500 from the Economic Development account; Commissioner Cody Meadows abstained because his child participates in the club. The minutes record the outcome as three votes in favor and one abstention.
The commission also agreed to let Assistant City Clerk Michelle Randolph close City Hall to the public on Monday, March 17 to organize files; that closure was authorized by motion and recorded as approved. Commissioners authorized Koger to buy and install four new door locks for City Hall at a cost not to exceed $450, with installation scheduled for March 14; they discussed later adding keypad access.
On finance matters the commission approved transferring the exact dollar amount needed from Savings to the General Fund to pay a Code Enforcement invoice after Attorney Joe Hoffman explained the charge. The commission agreed to consolidate and close two small accounts — the Board of Adjustments (BOA) and Stamping Out Hunger (SOH) accounts — transferring their funds into the General Fund to avoid maintenance fees.
The body approved routine corporate housekeeping as well: the February 4, 2025 meeting minutes and the January and February financials were each approved by motion (votes recorded 4-0). Commissioners also moved into and out of an executive session under KRS 61.8101(f) related to personnel matters; those motions and the meeting adjournment later in the evening were recorded as approved.
