Salem Township supervisors approve tractor bid specifications and set advertisement schedule

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Feb. 11 to advertise for bids on a tractor that must be a 2008 model or newer, have a boom mower, at least 105 horsepower and fewer than 5,000 operating hours.
Supervisor Bob Zundel moved to discuss advertising for bids and Supervisor Todd Paulich seconded. During the discussion Paulich said the board would “prefer to buy a brand-new tractor with a boom mower but it's not in the budget this year,” and the board set minimum specifications for the bids: model year 2008 or newer; tractor equipped with a boom mower; no fewer than 105 horsepower; fewer than 5,000 hours; verifiable service records showing good condition; and immediate availability for use.
The supervisors then approved a motion to publish the bid advertisement in the Penn Franklin newspaper on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, 2026 to satisfy advertising requirements. Bids will be opened March 5, 2026, and the board will consider awarding the purchase March 18, 2026 at a public supervisors meeting. All motions passed with votes from Kerry Jobe, Bob Zundel and Todd Paulich.
The meeting closed after a motion to adjourn; the board scheduled a public hearing for Feb. 18 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building. The meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
