Salem Township declares emergency, authorizes traffic‑signal repairs and contracts

Salem Township supervisors declared an emergency and authorized repairs after a vehicle damaged a traffic-signal pole at the US‑22/Route‑119/Operators Way intersection.
On Jan. 21 the board voted unanimously to adopt an emergency declaration based on a recommendation from Traffic Control for immediate repairs to the damaged pole. Supervisors then authorized signing Standard Form Agreements with Bronder Technical Services to complete repairs at both the Route 22 & Route 819 intersection and the Route 22 & Hollywood Boulevard intersection, with both contracts subject to final solicitor review.
Kerry Jobe told the board that Ryan Thomas (MBM Law) revised the repair agreement to include a paragraph about contract termination; because the added language may or may not be accepted, the board’s motions were conditioned on final solicitor approval. The township reported the accident to its insurer and has received a partial reimbursement toward repairs.
Earlier in the meeting, the board accepted final traffic‑signal permit plans for a Route 22 upgrade after PennDOT completed testing, approving final design and permitting steps that PennDOT cleared.
All motions related to the emergency declaration, contract authorization and permit acceptance passed unanimously.
