Pasadena officials on the Rose City Report urged residents to prepare for an episode of extreme heat, emphasizing fire prevention and personal safety.
"With extreme heat coming this week, please stay safe, informed, and prepared to help prevent fires and keep the community safe," presenter Rayla Domino said on the City of Pasadena bulletin. The city’s fire department recommended trimming vegetation near homes, keeping roofs and gutters clean, and checking for potential fire hazards to reduce wildfire and structure-fire risks.
The Pasadena Public Health Department advised residents to find relief indoors if air quality becomes smoky, drink water frequently, limit outdoor activity and never leave children or pets in vehicles. The bulletin directed listeners to cityofpasadena.net/public-health for additional guidance.
Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) also urged customers to conserve energy while protecting health: open windows in the early morning or evening when possible, turn off lights and unplug electronics when not in use, and avoid heavy oven or stove use during peak heat. For power emergencies the bulletin listed PWP at (626) 744-4673 and for water-related emergencies (626) 744-4138.
City officials framed these measures as immediate, precautionary steps ahead of the heat event. The Rose City Report listed web resources for department guidance and advised residents to check changeable message boards and city web pages for updates.
