Riverbank residents tell supervisors they’ve been without running water for months, urge county intervention

Melissa Sandoval spoke during public comment at the July 14 meeting of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors, telling the board she and her 68‑year‑old father, Robert, have been without running water for months and accusing local officials and contractors of neglect related to nearby North County Corridor construction.
"We are slowly and brutally getting pushed out by our family in the county of the North over the North County corridor project," Sandoval said, and added she and her father have been without running water for about seven months. She described property flooding, unaddressed drainage problems, missed mail and medication deliveries, and said she had previously raised the issue before county officials without meaningful help.
Sandoval asked why the county and city had not provided hookups or other assistance; Chair Vito Chiesa said the board would ask the City of Riverbank about the situation and follow up. Bianca Lopez of Valley Improvement Projects and the Latino Community Roundtable later urged the board to hold sheriff reports and outreach in affected communities with Spanish interpretation and nonuniform presenters so residents feel comfortable attending.
The board acknowledged the comment and directed staff to inquire with Riverbank about potential water hookups and follow‑up steps for the household. No formal action or funding decision was made at the meeting; Sandoval’s request was entered into the public record.
