Board introduces new Charlestown administrators; superintendent's contract extended through 2029

At the July 14 meeting the Greater Clark County School Board introduced several newly hired administrators for the Charlestown schools and announced an automatic extension of Superintendent Loughner's contract.
A board member introduced Randy Johnfania as the new principal at Charlestown High School; Johnfania thanked the board, saying, "I just wanna say thank you for the opportunity... we're excited." The board also named Rebecca Cambron and Sarah Pickering as assistant principals at Charlestown High School, and John Dablo as an assistant principal at Charlestown Middle School. Heather Hartshaug was listed in the personnel report as dean and athletic director for Charlestown Middle School but was not present at the meeting.
During board comments the chair said the superintendent received a "highly effective" performance rating under the terms of his contract, which, the chair said, automatically extends the contract by one year. "As such, Mr. Loughner's contract is extended through June 30, 2029," the chair announced and added that no further board action was required.
Board members congratulated the new appointees and reminded the public that the school year begins in two weeks, with a July 28 meeting and a ribbon-cutting/open house at Parkwood Elementary planned for next week.
The personnel announcements and contract extension were made on the record; no formal vote occurred on the superintendent extension because the contract clause provides the automatic extension upon the specified performance rating.
