The East Rutherford Board of Education approved a slate of routine consent items and committee recommendations during its July meeting and heard operational updates from administrators.
School business administrator Mr. Vracci reported that June 2026 prepaid food-service balances totaled $4,248.26 and negative balances were $1,355.55; he said those negative balances will be carried into the 2627 school year. “For the June 2026, the district earned almost $92,000,” Mr. Vracci said, describing a roughly $37,000 increase from the prior year.
Interim Superintendent Miss Spiro briefed the board on registration and pre-K placements. She said about “10 or more parents and families” still needed to complete re-registration and warned that students whose families do not complete registration may not have access to Genesys or be assigned schedules at the start of the school year.
On the consent agenda, the board approved prior meeting minutes (one member abstained because she was not present at the earlier meetings), motions S1–S5 (routine superintendent resolutions) and recorded an abstention on S6, and approved curriculum motions C1–C4 covering the teacher mentoring plan, extended school-year dates, ESY transportation and an educational stability transportation plan. The board also approved finance motions F1–F9, which included payroll, bills, financial reports, contract renewals, an amendment for vision-management services and authorization to write off outstanding food-service balances as of June 30, 2026.
The personnel committee moved to table some personnel actions for executive session; after the closed session the board returned and approved the personnel items presented for action. During the meeting the board announced it would move into executive session to discuss legal, personnel, negotiation and student matters and expected to return in about 30 minutes.
The meeting concluded after the board completed votes, addressed the unexpected change in the president’s office and set the next meeting for Aug. 27, 2026.
