Chiesa credits Measure L and regional partnerships for major Stanislaus transportation projects

Chiesa said Measure L changed what was possible for county transportation planning, allowing Stanislaus County to leverage local dollars into larger state and federal funding streams.
He cited State Route 132 as an example where long-term vision plus newly available funding allowed phase 1 completion and phase 2 to advance under Caltrans leadership. Chiesa also called the North County Corridor one of the largest transportation investments in county history and said it will improve safety, reduce congestion and facilitate goods movement when finished.
Chiesa thanked former and current public-works directors (Matt Machado and Dave Lehman) and recognized regional planning organizations including the Stanislaus Council of Governments (STANCOG) and its chair Buck Condit, saying the organizations have a clear path forward after a challenging year.
He also pointed to bridge projects (Hills Ferry Bridge with Merced County and Modesto's 7th Street Bridge) and warned that such projects require sustained regional collaboration and coordination with cities and state agencies.
