Staff told the Agricultural Preservation Board on May 20 that they recently participated in an in-depth interview with ADFP Trust Fund reviewers regarding an application to fund a Cost of Community Services study.
According to staff, the ADFP review committee will evaluate applications in June and notify applicants later in the summer. If the application is funded, the team at North Carolina State University (NCSU) can begin work in early 2027 with a projected completion in late 2027 or early 2028.
The board did not vote on the grant application at the May meeting. Staff indicated the application interview seemed to go well and said the countys grant review timeline places notification later in the summer.
Whats next: the APB will await notification from the ADFP Trust Fund review committee; if funded, staff and partners will finalize a project timeline with NCSU.
