Village President Robert Schafer told the Onsted Village Council that the American Legion has proposed a semi-quincentennial celebration for July 2026 and that a public planning meeting is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2026; the meeting is open to residents and others who want to help plan the event.
Separately, council members discussed proposed changes to the village employee handbook and voted to re-establish the Finance/HR Committee to review the handbook and return recommendations to the full council. The council extended an open invitation to village employees and residents interested in participating in the committee's review.
The items were considered under the meeting's information/discussion portion and did not result in formal ordinances or budgetary commitments at this session. The council proceeded afterward to act on other agenda items, including equipment disposition and appointments.
