Onsted council rejects village-run flea market in 4–3 vote; approves truck sale and several appointments

Councilmember Jay Best moved and Councilmember Steve Muth supported a motion to use village resources to manage a Village Flea Market; the motion failed on a roll-call vote with Best, Mike Slick and Muth voting yes and Village President Robert Schafer, Libby Chase, Mark Robotham and Keri Jeffords voting no. The council approved the sealed-bid sale of a 1993 GMC 3500 dump truck to Darin Hawes of Capitol Fence for $5,805.00 on a motion by Councilmember Jay Best, supported by Councilmember Libby Chase. The motion carried.
Also on the consent of the council, Chuck Hunt was appointed to the Planning Commission (motion by Councilmember Libby Chase, supported by Councilmember Mike Slick) and Jeffrey Oswalt was appointed as the village Ordinance Enforcement Officer (motion by Councilmember Jay Best, supported by Councilmember Libby Chase). Council directed Village Clerk Holtz to sign a Power of Attorney for motor vehicle filings (motion by Councilmember Libby Chase, supported by Councilmember Jay Best); that motion carried.
