Scott County officials on July 14 reviewed federal funding agreements and project schedules for two bridge replacements, reported awards for resurfacing projects and outlined vehicle replacements after a Secondary Roads truck was totaled.
County Engineer Angie Kersten told the board the county has a federal funding agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the 85th Avenue bridge replacement with a letting date in March 2027 and a separate agreement for the Big Rock Road (Y4E) bridge replacement with a February 2027 letting date. Kersten also reported an award of contracts for three Hot Mix Asphalt resurfacing projects; Manatt’s Inc. submitted the winning bid among five bidders for $1,711,980.34.
Fleet Manager Mark Garrow reviewed two related procurement items. He reported purchase of a Tandem Axle Plow Truck Chassis from Ascendance Truck Centers for $169,656.00 and a Tandem Axle Plow Truck Body with snow equipment package from Henderson Products, Inc. for $151,133.22, noting asset #5722 was recently totaled and will be sold at public auction. Garrow and Kersten emphasized the importance of replacing the vehicle and reviewed insurance/deductible and delivery timelines.
The minutes record the reviews and award information as presented to the board; no additional fiscal authorizations or amended budgets are recorded in the meeting minutes.
