Tequesta council gives village manager high marks and authorizes mayor to negotiate new contract

On July 16 the Village of Tequesta conducted the annual performance review of Village Manager Jeremy Allen. Multiple council members praised Allen’s leadership, communication and fiscal planning, and a resident speaker offered public remarks in support of the manager’s record.
Council members repeatedly described Allen as proactive, well-prepared and instrumental in implementing capital projects and operational improvements. One council member urged council to negotiate and finalize a new four‑year contract before the November election period; another recommended awarding the manager the maximum merit-based bonus allowed by contract. The council voted to grant the maximum bonus and authorized the mayor to negotiate the next contract term with Allen and return it to the council for formal approval.
A resident, Scott Reynolds, spoke during public comment to support the manager’s work on storm-drain maintenance, sidewalks, and broader staff improvements. Council plans to return the negotiated contract and any proposed compensation changes to the governing body for ratification in a future meeting.
