The Village of Wilcox Board of Trustees on April 8 approved routine financial items and acted on two building-permit referrals from the Planning Commission.
Trustee Johnson moved and Trustee Norman seconded approval of the treasurer’s report; the motion carried with all members voting in favor. The trustees then approved a slate of vendor claims presented at the meeting. Notable entries on the claims list included NPPD for $13,581.25, SCS for $4,279.55 and village salaries totaling $5,719.70; Trustee Nash moved to approve all claims and Trustee Adam seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The Planning Commission brought two permit applications to the board. Application #406, from Monica Latter for an overhang on the west side of a house, was approved after a motion by Trustee Nash and a second by Trustee Adam. Application #407, for a garage submitted by K. Jurgens, was tabled by both the Planning Commission and the Village Board until further information is gathered about whether the structure is 7 feet from the property line (to the eaves or to the building) and how much green space is required.
On delinquent utilities, the board reviewed accounts and noted one customer had requested a hearing but did not attend; the Clerk was instructed to contact the property owners before any termination of utilities and to provide opportunities to bring accounts current.
Clerk Melinda Ferree reported the village will establish an annual safety committee composed of two employee representatives and two board members. She also said the gWorks UBHUB software did not go live on April 2 as scheduled and the village is awaiting contact from gWorks.
Trustee Adam requested future board meetings be held in the main Town Hall room rather than the village office and said he will contact TIF development attorney Andrew Willis about establishing community revitalization area (CRA) funds. Trustee Johnson announced a new Wilcox Newcomers newsletter. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
