The Village of Wilcox Board of Trustees discussed possible legal action on April 8 for nuisance conditions at 305 and 309 E. Franklin, but granted a continuance while ownership is clarified. Chairman Brad Gardels said the Board of Health will be asked to review the matter and, if appropriate, file a case in District Court.
Board members told the meeting that a purchase agreement exists for the property but no deed has been issued, leaving ownership uncertain. The board discussed options with the village attorney, including pursuing settlement or seeking a judgment, and agreed to decide a path forward only after ownership is confirmed.
Neighbor D. Fecht told trustees he was concerned about people living in campers on the lot and the prolonged operation and noise of a generator. A board member said the campers and the generator are expected to be removed in May.
The board granted a continuance; no new court date has been scheduled. The board instructed staff and the attorney to research the ownership record and report back before taking further enforcement steps.
