Cortland board approves bills, accepts fiscal-year audit and orders cash transfers

At its Feb. 11 meeting the Village of Cortland Board reviewed and approved payment of the listed municipal bills, including a late invoice from the Cortland Rural Fire Department for one half of its awards banquet ($792.38). The board also reviewed the audit prepared by Blobaum & Busboom PC for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025, approved the auditors' report and authorized recommended cash transfers retroactive to Sept. 30, 2025.
The bill list presented included vendor amounts for municipal supplies, utilities and services (examples: Black Hills Energy $1,168.54; Norris Public Power $2,741.96; Waste Connections $4,782.57; salaries $5,539.76). The board voted to include the fire-department late bill in the warrants and to pay the other presented claims.
Regarding the audit, the board approved motions to implement the auditors' recommended cash transfers and accepted the auditors' report for the fiscal year. No additional budget reallocations or specific future expenditures were adopted at the meeting; the board recorded the audit acceptance and directed staff to make the transfers as recommended.
Financial motions passed by roll call. The board did not discuss new taxes or additional municipal borrowing at the Feb. 11 meeting.
