Monroe council approves multiple special events and temporary liquor licenses

The Monroe Common Council unanimously approved a slate of special events and two temporary Class B fermented malt‑beverage licenses at its Sept. 2 meeting.

The Public Safety Committee’s resolution cleared four events: the Greene County Fall Nationals tractor and truck pull at the Greene County Fairgrounds (Sept. 13, 2025), the Monroe Rural Fire District pancake breakfast (October 2025, 7 a.m.–noon), Monroe High School’s homecoming parade (Oct. 10, 2025, route approved by the police department), and the City of Monroe pocket park dedication/night market (Sept. 13, 2025). The council voted to approve the resolution unanimously.

Separately, the council granted a temporary Class B fermented malt beverage license to the Greene County Development Corporation to serve alcohol at the pocket park dedication and night market on Sept. 13 (5–9 p.m.), subject to the city’s outdoor‑beer‑garden guidelines and fire inspection. The council also approved a similar temporary license for the Monroe Lions Club to serve alcohol at the Greene County Fall Nationals from Sept. 13 into the early morning of Sept. 14; the licensed area includes the grandstand, a fenced infield beer‑garden (approximately 350 by 60 feet), the Exhibition Hall and an adjacent fenced area.

The clerk conducted roll calls on each item; each resolution passed by unanimous vote.

The approvals include conditions: setup and operation must follow the city application on file, comply with city guidelines for outdoor beer gardens and are subject to inspection by the fire inspector.
