Town Council approves routine expenditures, lease extension and event donations

The Clifton Town Council on Dec. 5 approved several routine motions, including payments for the town’s annual services and event expenses, a lease extension for a municipal property, and a charitable allocation from the Holiday Homes Tour proceeds.
Mayor Bill Hollaway moved to approve a $899.50 expenditure for the production of Homes Tour tickets; the motion passed by roll-call with all six members present at the time voting Aye (Hollaway, Effros, McDonald, Pline, Screen, Poe). The Council also approved payment of a $995 invoice to Growth Media Solutions for an annual G‑Suite subscription and accepted the Treasurer’s Report as presented.
On unfinished business the Council approved the lease of the Pink House rear building to the existing tenant with an option to extend for another six months; that motion carried by poll, 5-0. Councilmember Lynn Screen reported that the Holiday Homes Tour sold 267 tickets and netted approximately $3,800; Mayor Hollaway moved to allocate 50% of the net proceeds to Clifton Second Baptist Church for capital improvements (HVAC and accessibility), and the motion passed by roll-call (Hollaway, Effros, Poe, Pline, Screen: Aye; Vice Mayor McDonald had left earlier).
In new business the Council approved most items in the Clifton Women’s Club signage request for the Homes Tour and similar events (items 1, 3 and 4 approved; item 2 denied); the banner over Main Street must be removed no more than three days after the event and other signage must be removed on the day of the event.
The Council adjourned at 9:50 p.m. after a brief recognition of outgoing members.
